FAQs

What makes the cards wind-resistant?

Pantheon cards are made from a thick PVC material, making them about 3x heavier than a standard deck of paper cards. They are also slightly smaller than a standard deck of poker cards. The additional weight and marginally smaller size are what keeps these cards on the table.

Are they waterproof?

Yes, they are 100% water, spill, and muck-proof.

What size are they?

86x59mm, slightly smaller than your average deck of poker cards (89x64mm).

Can I shuffle them just like normal cards?

At first they might be a little trickier than normal cards to shuffle, but after a couple of tries will have the knack. Here are the best ways we recommend to shuffle the cards:

The Smoosh – Not the prettiest, but what this method lacks in finesse it makes up for in effectiveness. Any card can end up in any position in the deck after a single shuffle. Still used in some Casinos today.

Hold the deck face down in one hand.
Use your other hand to pull out random small packets of cards from the bottom, middle, and top of the deck.
Drop the small packets of cards randomly onto the table surface.
Once you've pulled out and dropped multiple small card packets, gather them back up into a stack.
The deck is now shuffled as the packets have been scrambled and reordered.
For more thorough shuffling, repeat the scramble process 2-3 times, pulling cards from different parts of the deck.

The Riffle – Often said to be the most effective way of shuffling. This usually involves splitting the deck in two and shuffling the cards back into a single stack. As our cards are thicker than standard cards it’s best to split the deck into 4.

Instructions:

Split the deck into 2 even stacks.
With your index fingers on the corners and thumbs on the ends, lift both halves slightly. This will allow the cards to fall downward when released.
Release your grip on both halves at the same time, letting the cards fall and interlace with each other. They should cascade in a quick, tidy motion.
The halves will riffle neatly into each other, making a distinct fluttering sound. Aim for a clean interleaving of cards.
Once the halves have riffled together, straighten the deck and apply light pressure to align the cards.
Repeat the riffle process 1-2 more times for thorough shuffling. The cards should be well mixed.

The Overhand - A simple, tradional shuffling technique that get’s the job done

Instructions

Step 1: Hold the deck in one hand between thumb and fingers.
Step 2: Use the other hand to pull out a small packet from the top.
Step 3: Drop that packet onto the cards remaining in the first hand.
Step 4: Now use the first hand to pull out a packet and drop it onto the second hand's cards.
Step 5:Keep transferring packets back and forth between hands.
Step 6:Repeat the overhand motion multiple times to shuffle the cards.

Are they flexible?

Yes, Pantheon cards are flexible, however the extra-thickness makes them less flexible than a than a standard deck of cards. The upside of this is that the cards are less prone to deformation, wear and tear, “dog-ears”, and creasing. In summary, they will last longer. However, they are not as easy to glance your cards (i.e. with poker) compared to a thin paper/plastic deck of cards.
